What is WELLfed?
A free education programme based around kai and cooking skills.
When are classes?
We have classes running each day. Learners can join a class, and come to one class a week for 16 weeks (two terms).
I struggle with reading and writing, will this be a problem?
The WELLfed programme is very hands-on and practical, and includes verbal directions and demonstrations. We have skills and resources to help ensure everyone can understand and learn successfully.
How much do classes cost?
Classes are free - some eligibility criteria applies, but generally adults aged under 65 who are not working can attend
Where is WELLfed?
We are based in Cannons Creek, Porirua. Learners are mostly local to Porirua, but some attend from around the Wellington area.
What outcomes can I expect?
Everyone is starting from a their own point, but all Learners can expect to:

Build confidence in the kitchen, using everyday ingredients

Learn to cook nourishing meals for their whānau on a budget

Develop practical skills in meal planning, shopping smart, and reducing food waste

Who can join?
Some enrollment criteria applies, but generally people aged under 65 years who are not working can attend WELLfed.
Can I bring my tamariki to WELLfed?
We have volunteer-run childcare available for preschoolers while their parent/caregiver attends WELLfed classes.

How can I donate to WELLfed?
Can I help out?
We currently have a full roster of volunteer helpers for our programmes. There is always garden mahi to do though - you are always welcome to check out our Plant & Learn sessions on Wednesday mornings.
Do you need equipment donations?
Due to space constraints we are not currently able to accept donations of kitchen equipment. Please keep an eye on our social media pages for specific requests though.
