The Hampshire Street Gardens

Check out the difference a year makes!

Six compost bins are transforming water bottles and food waste into food for our plants. See how For the Better Good make this happen here.

We’re excited about seeing the old bowling green providing food for families as well as reducing waste.

The Hampshire Gardens team are so thankful for the time and energy of the 60+ 'Garden Guardians' from Holy Family and Windley Schools, as well as other volunteers. They are building fresh compost using diverted food waste, wood chip & returned Better Bottles as well as planting lots of vegetables and fruit trees.

The site now is covered with garden beds, fruit trees, a green house, meeting area, children's garden, sandpit and play area.

The amazing Porirua community has been hard at work in the Gardens at Hampshire alongside For The Better Good and WELLfed.  Where once there was grass there are now 500+ seedlings including peas, beans, watermelon, lettuce and spinach. The orchard includes many types of citrus, feijoa, avocado, fig and apple trees.

In time, some of the harvest will be walked into our WELLfed kitchen and made into delicious meals to 'feed our families well'.
