Since 2016, WELLfed's mission has been nourishing communities through food and connections. We are dedicated to helping individuals and families thrive by growing skills and confidence, improving health and wellbeing, and strengthening community connections.

Supportive, practical classes to grow confidence, create connections, and develop cooking and nutrition skills to nourish communities

Skills for
Life

Programme includes:

  • Up to 16 weeks of weekly classes

  • Skills for Life practical education classes, including:

    • healthy cooking and nutrition

    • life skills

    • budgeting and nutrition

    • food safety

    • kōrero and kai to share

  • Access to WELLfed Plus activities, including:

    • goal setting​

    • parenting workshops

    • first aid workshop

    • ... and lots more

Supportive, welcoming space for hapū and new māmā to build confidence and learn practical life skills.

  • Skills for Life practical education classes, including:

  • Discussion-based education sessions with a specialist facilitator and expert guest speakers, including:

    • navigating local services

    • infant first aid

    • postnatal wellbeing

    • child development and parenting

    • ...and lots more

  • Access to WELLfed Plus activities

Practical education and skills for people with a diagnosis of type 2 or pre-diabetes to manage their health.

Programme includes:

  • 10 weeks of weekly classes

  • Practical education classes, including:

    • delicious, healthy cooking

    • growing your own kai

    • easy exercises

  • Essential diabetes education, including:

    • understanding how food works

    • understanding diabetes

    • understanding medication

    • accessing local services

  • Access to WELLfed Plus activities

A hands-on space for WELLfed learners and local tamariki to learn to grow kai, care for Papatūānuku, and be active outdoors.

Garden Education

The WELLfed Garden offers:

  • Education and active movement sessions for tamariki from local schools

  • Allotments for WELLfed learners to grow their own produce with guidance from the garden team

  • Waste Minimisation 

    • Education sessions in WELLfed classes​

    • Landfill diversion

    • Set up home compost systems

Supportive, practical classes to grow confidence, create connections, and develop cooking and nutrition skills to nourish communities, and learn skills for work or study
